Pump Station Inlet

The Pump Station Inlet project completed by Technica was a design build mining/construction project. The project required Technica to develop and construct a vertical shaft/pump well with an underground horizontal connection to an existing open pit reservoir.

SERVICES PERFORMED

The purpose of the project was to create an inlet for a future pump station that will collect all seepage water from the nearby smelter waste dump site so that the water can be collected and pumped for treatment prior to release to the environment. The project required Technica to install ground support on an existing 60ft high pit wall, develop a portal and 120ft of horizontal drift, drill/blast/bolt a 80ft deep 15ft diameter vertical shaft, construct a shaft collar/pump foundation, install and concrete in place a special order polymer coated pump well/tunnel liner in the shaft and drift, and install an inlet screen in the bottom of the reservoir. All aspects of the design, development, and construction were managed by Technica with Technica workforce completing over 95% of the work directly. The project was completed injury free over a 7 month period.
